A spirited discussion broke out at the recent Sinterklaus party, as to whether the 2018 smash hit ‘Hereditary’ was a “Christmas-adjacent” movie, because it conceivably could have taken place right before or even during the Xmas season. Attendees couldn’t agree on whether or not it qualified as such, but all agreed that it was a great movie worth watching this holiday season.

Great question there, @Jil! I would strongly encourage everyone who’s thinking of subbing out their usual alcohol intake this holiday season with something else to employ the ‘how much joy does this bring me’ vs. ‘how much will this fuck up my sleep’ equation. If goldfish bring you lots of joy, then that’s a great substitute, since I’ll assume it won’t mess up your sleep to eat 10 huge handfuls. Chocolate or Xmas treats of all varieties are also great options, as well as bacon-wrapped Italian sausages.

Patrick, how far can one stretch this principle? I've been considering substituting a goldfish bowl for my usual wine glass this holiday season. Good idea/bad idea?

Get freaky with it (the Christmas spirit)

An easy trick to feel nice and warm this holiday season is to grab a big glass and pour at least 2 ‘normal’ sized drinks into it. And then call that ‘basically one drink’. People- you don’t need to align with society’s messed-up standards - think outside the box here and get festive!!!

Fun fact, when they bought the naming rights for The Fast & The Furious from the original 1954 film, they specifically did not get the rights to any numbered sequels (hence 2 Fast 2 Furious et al.) So you'll need to get more creative.

I'm down for any and all of the F&F franchise. Fast 5 is one of the top for me personally (agree Micah!), though the best part of Tokyo Drift is how much Sung Kang you get (ummm... mega dream boat!). And that it ends up being a time warp down the road.
